Joy In January – Green Sun Giveaway

Essential Oils, Great Deals & Discounts, Healthy Living 18 Comments »

The shorter days of winter may look dark and dreary with their gray skies, but they also can also be the cause of what’s known as Seasonal Affective Disorder. Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD can affect people anywhere, but especially those in high latitudes where the sun barely peeks above the horizon dugin the winter. Symptoms include depressed mood, irritability, hopelessness, anxiety, loss of energy, and social withdrawal. We believe that fragrance can effect one’s mood and emotions in an uplifting way.

To help bring joy to someone in a dark time in their life, I am offering a giveaway of a bottle of my appropriately titled natural perfume oil, Green Sun. This is my citrus centered blend with green and yellow mandarins, grapefruit, kaffir lime leaf, ginger, lavender and petitgrain with a soft amber base.

The Joy in January project is a 3 day event with giveaways across the Natural Perfumers Guild participating blogs. Please visit all the participating blogs and share them with your friends in support of the bloggers and bringing more awareness to SAD.

Hi, and thanks so much for hosting this awesome giveaway opportunity. I am a big fan of ginger in fragrance and ginger with citrus, so this perfume sounds lovely. I live in the lower great lakes region of the US and we are overcast for weeks on end this time of year, with lots of snow and cold. Any relief is welcome!

  12. Sandi Lundberg says:

Great blog, and Thanks for participating in “Joy in January” The green sun sounds delightful. Yellow mandarin is one of my favorite citrus notes.

  13. Tamara says:

SAD is usually triggered by a lack of sunlight and physical activity.
There is no reason however to let the winter gloom get to you and dampen your spirits. Scientific research has shown that people suffering from seasonal depression are relatively more sensitive to smells and respond well to the aromas of essential oils. One of them is :
Ylang – A sensual scent that is relaxing and mildly sedative – especially useful if you have been battling stress and mental fatigue.
other is Jasmine– The exotic floral aroma of Jasmine spreads cheer and freshness. Take a whiff to rev up your energy levels.

  14. Amy H. says:

Ginger is one of my go-tos in winter, I’m always craving the warmth from ginger tea. I never thought to dose myself with it in scent as well. I’m curious how ginger melds with the citruses in your Green Sun, sounds great.

Thank you so much for participating in the Joy in January project!

Green Sun sounds like a dream come true in a winter. The citruses can be very uplifting and pairing it with a nice spicy ginger and a warm amber base (my favorite in winter) it awesome.

    With much appreciation,
    Michael S

  17. Katie Whitaker says:

    Hi,

I have Bipolar Disorder so I have definitely experienced Seasonal Affective Disorder. Although it’s not my main diagnosis, I can relate to being depressed through the winter… it just seems to drag on!! It’s no fun. But, therapy such as Aromatherapy, Light Therapy, Talk Therapy, and getting involved in group outings/ group meetings discussing or doing fun things helps tremendously. It is important for a person going through this Disorder to seek help, and remember that they are not alone… because it can get better.
